MUSIC LESSONS TRINIDAD

“We worked with Rena to arrange percussion lessons for our 12 year old son. He took lessons in Havana, with Octavio, and in Trinidad, with David. These experiences were the highlight of our two week trip to Cuba. Both Octavio and David were fantastic teachers, incredible musicians, and wonderful human beings. Our son learned a tremendous amount and really had fun.”

There are many musicians in Trinidad and we can offer a few different options, depending on your interest and budget. We can arrange a 1 day workshop or private tuition with David López Carabito and / or other local musicians.

David López Carabito, from Trinidad, is an internationally renowned musician; he has attended cultural events in Canada and is a talented and professional instructor of Percussion Instruments. He gives private tuition of the Tumbadora / Congos, Maracas, Guiro, Clave, Chequere and Bongo.

We can also arrange Guitar or Piano lessons with other local musicians in Trinidad.

During David’s lesson you will be introduced to different percussion instruments and taught the basic rhythmic movements. You’ll get to hear him play, feel the music and get the opportunity to play the instruments.
